Sailor Moon:Tsukino Usagi/Serena

Japanese bio | North American bio | Other Notes & Info | Pictures

Forward in time, the Moon Princess has returned. With a new life and a different look, the heir to the late Moon Kingdom is determined to bring peace to the whole universe.

In Japan...

Princess Serenity was a lady of grace and beauty. Her mother, Queen Serenity, raised her well to be the future queen of the Moon Kingdom. It was forbidden to have contact with the Prince of Earth, Endymion, but she fell in love with him helplessly. Now, in the present, the two are reunited in a fierce situation.

When Luna, the Queen's old feline advisor, found the Princess, she mistook her for someone else. Not knowing she was right in front of her, she sent this girl out on a mission to find the lost Moon Princess. The girl she sensed power from was named Tsukino Usagi. Luna's mistake was not in vain; she transformed Usagi into the Pretty Sailor Suited Soldier, Sailormoon. The awesome Sailormoon defeated or healed all of her enemies.

At first, Usagi couldn't very well handle being a super-heroine. Her cowardness didn't help her much in battle, but luckily, she had the mysterious Tuxedo Mask to save her. With practice, the unfit teenager turned into an all-powerful warrior. With the new challenges she faced almost every day, Sailormoon's powers increased.

As a school girl, she didn't do well. Her grades were low, she fell asleep in class, and most every day, Usagi was late for school. Somehow, this clueless young lady survived and graduated to the next level of learning. In other words: high school. Being a Sailor Senshi certainly helped her there. With the coming adventures came the strength and confidence that she would need.

In North America...

Serena, Princess of the Moon, would soon be the Queen of the Moon Kingdom. But her world was ripped apart as she and her love, the Earth Prince Darien, were killed by a ruthless Queen Beryl from the Negaverse.

Her adventure in present day began when she was typically late for school. Yes, Serena was a ditz. She had low grades and was sometimes clueless about what was going on around her. Obsessed with food and never gaining a pound, Serena was perfect for being the queen ditz of the world.

The girl met a strange dark cat that scared her the first few times. And it frightened Serena even more when this cat started talking! It told her that she was destined to save the world. This cat, named Luna, gave a beautiful brooch to the unknowing teenager. Little did Serena know that she was about to embark on an adventure that would nearly kill her. But, of course, also make her stronger.

This sweet child with meatballs and pigtails for hair made an incredible change! From total ditz to semi-ditz! Being a Sailor Scout, and leader, gave her the determination and will-power to go on when things went wrong. Many of her problems revolved around her only love, Darien. He'd been brain-washed by evil one time, and another, broke up with her. All that completely devastated her.

But she came through. Sailor Moon, in the midst of all confusion, used her love and strength to save the Earth. She completed her missions to find the Moon Princess and get back the Rainbow Crystals, and faced every new enemy that challenged her. Yup, Serena, Queen Ditz, was a great warrior who never stopped learning every step of the way.

Other Notes & Info...

  • In the Japanese Manga (comic book), our main heroine Sailormoon was not leader. Being the Princess herself, she wasn't allowed to fight. So Sailorvenus took her place as leader.
  • It's ironic that Sailormoon's secret identity was named Usagi in the Anime (Japanese cartoon). In the Japanese language, "usagi" translates as "bunny". Usagi doesn't even like carrots! She hates them!
